Hawkes Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group

2011 marks the 80th Anniversary of the HB earthquake and we invited students & schools to learn about earthquakes, tsunami and floods while making the shortest disaster movie ever!

  • Aim: To encourage school children to learn about disaster preparedness along with earthquake, flooding and tsunami risk.
  • Target: All Primary/Immediate and Secondary Schools in Hawke’s Bay

The competition required:

  • Shortest Disaster Movie Ever’ at a maximum of 10 minutes.
  • The winning movies were those that contained clear, creative and concise messages focusing on “What to do to be safe in a tsunami, flood or earthquake emergency?”

All movies can be seen on  http://www.hbemergency.govt.nz/ShortestDisasterMovieEver  as links to U-Tube

We are thrilled with the talented movie makers out there and their understanding of the hazards in Hawke's Bay and the need for civil defence preparedness.  Our winners are:
