Disaster Awareness Week 2009 This annual event focuses on specific regional risks, like earthquakes, floods and tsunami, and reinforces the importance of being ready for a disaster.
In 2009, the week runs from 11-17 October and includes a programme of activity for schools. There is also a strong retail focus and this year both The Warehouse and New World Supermarkets will be holding in-store displays with the support of local councils.
So expect to see the message of GET READY GET THRU supported from Wairoa to Waipukurau!
Specific information on the national campaign is available on the Ministry for Civil Defence & Emergency Management website.
Group Meetings The Hawke's Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group meets at least twice a year and the agenda and minutes are posted on the Hawke's Bay Regional Council website.
2009 Group Exercise Work Programme The Coordinating Executive Group has committed to a programme of exercise activities over 2009. This will culminate in two significant regional exercises, namely:
21 October - Desktop exercise with Group and Local EOC's on Functions/Information Requirements/Processes
